A Fawn near the Road is intended for children between 3 and 9. it s the story of the Fawn s first outing-a trip to the river. Momma deer uses it as an opportunity to teach some life lessons, but the Fawn thinks it s just one big adventure. They re able to cross the road safely by carefully avoiding the angry ones. Then he learns how to jump but isn t very good at it. At the river, the Fawn meets his cousins and has even greater adventures. One adventure includes the ignoring of a parent s warning, consequences of actions, and ultimately doing the right thing. There are 27 pages of story text, including nine adorable illustrations by nine children from grades 4 through 8. An additional illustration by another child is on the front cover.
