Hopefully, the reader will discover commonality with author John C. Mason'.s ethical concerns, directed in the present book: The Rabbi&rsquo.s Dilemma, for concerns towards broad recognition of devious political and bureaucratic activities rampant in the State of Israel as documented in their treatment of Palestinians and in violation of nearly eighty formal objections passed in the United Nations General Assembly. Cast against the history of Palestine and the emergence of Israel, the chief character is a rabbi, Reuben, a fourth generation immigrant who discovers his diverse background, including Arabic, yet is imbued with courageous, rabbinical fervor. His broad-minded zeal is transmuted into his son, Joshua, eventually an academic proté.gé. who writes a book outlining the need for a single, sectarian nation for Arabs, Christians, and Jews in Palestine. Setting about its legal realisation, he finds himself jailed and facing Israeli State charges of treason.
