Some of the slave narratives found in the Florida Slave Narratives were collected by African American employees of the Works Progress Administration's . (WPA) Florida Federal Writers Project. Some historians believe that these narratives that had a black interviewer give a unique insight to the lives of slaves as the slave interviewees may have felt more comfortable disclosing information to a interviewers of the same race.
